One BRAND NEW RHW-25/Brix-40ATC (0-25% Alcohol Scale & 0-40% Brix Scale) Hand held Refractometer in a plastic hard case. All RHW models use ambient light, no battery or power source is required!

This unit has an extra large Brix Scale so you fully test wine grapes, Beer Mash and more! This unit is tailored to those professionals (and home brewers) working in the Wine, Beer and Liqueur Industries.

The Potential Alcohol scale gives you a "ballpark" number of what your finsihed alcohol will be after fermentation. Excellent unit to double benchmark for quality! FYI - NO REFRACTOMETER READS FINISHED ALCOHOL! This unit allows you to test for Sugar/Sucrose Content in items like Wine Grapes to determine the perfect time for harvest, or the perfect batch blends. The Alcohol scale allows for rapid and simple benchmarking of the original and finished product.

Reliable Every Time We Make Syrup

Posted by Patricia Elaine Cooper on 4th Aug 2026

Our family taps maple trees every spring, and this refractometer has become one of the most useful tools we own. It's simple enough that anyone in the family can use it after a quick explanation, yet accurate enough that we trust it when deciding whether another round of boiling is needed. We've also used it for honey blends, fruit syrups, and homemade caramel sauce. The reading line is easy to distinguish, calibration hasn't drifted, and cleanup is fast. After an entire season of regular use it still looks almost new. I would absolutely purchase this model again.

    Expected Better Instructions

Posted by Kevin Douglas Price on 4th Aug 2026

The refractometer seems accurate once it's set up correctly, but the instructions leave out a lot of helpful details. I spent quite a while figuring out exactly where the reading should be taken on the scale. Customer support answered my question and I eventually got everything working correctly, but the first experience wasn't great. Better documentation would have made this an easy five-star product.

    Excellent Tool for Home Winemaking

Posted by David R on 3rd Aug 2026

I've been making wine at home for about five years and finally decided to replace my old hydrometer with a refractometer. This one is much faster to use and only requires a couple of drops. The optics are sharp, calibration was simple, and the readings have been very consistent. Excellent purchase.

    Great Quality Control with Refractometers

Posted by Charlotte on 17th Jul 2013

If you do any home brewing or wine-making, these refractometers are very useful tools for determining quality. This particular unit has everything you need to determine alcohol content and precisely when to start and stop your batch. It doesn't even need a battery or light source to operate, and is very intuitive, even if you've never used a refractometer. Once I started taking my beer seriously, I discovered that this is an invaluable tool.
