    • Scope base shims Tolerance +/-.005 Taper 1.0 degree
    • Depending on the handgun,  some handguns need THIS 1degree shim to give extra range of elevation across a wide range of firearms (such as the 1911). Should you feel any resistance from the mechanism whilst zeroing the elevation please fit the shim between the sight and the mount with the thickest part at the rear.
What it does? While zeroing the red dot sight, some users turned the elevation screw all the way to the end that can no longer turn(screw maxed-out), the location of the illuminated dot is still TOO HIGH, user is UNABLE to adjust the dot LOW enough to zero. Instead of returning the "defective" red dot, this shim will rise the optic to help user to move the illuminated dot higher to the location to zero. Scope base shims Tolerance +/-.005 Taper 1.0 degree.

Position the thicker side toward the end to lower the dot.

Position the thicker side toward the front to raise the dot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what was needed to zero in my venom

Elevation adjusting screw ran out of adjustment when trying to zero in the red dot. With the ADE shim plate that issue went away.

    works great

I had to do minor fitting to my PSA Dagger. I had to use an emery board to remove a very small amount of material to the rear of the shim. It was just a little long for the cut on the slide. After this the holes lined up perfectly to the Vortex Venom. Now I can get it sighted in correctly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Allows zeroing my Vortex Venom

Helps to center the red dot on my Vortex Venom site. It had maxed the adjustment before installing this shim.

    Perfect fix

    Posted by R M on 22nd Jun 2025

Used this shim to raise the rear of the Vortex Venom on a CZ 75 SP-01 dove tail plate. Before,it would not zero, the adjust screw was at it's up limit. Now the up/down adjustment has plenty of adjustment between max up and down. Worked like a champ. If you're having the same problem, this will fix it and is worth the price. Thanks Ade Advance optics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elevation Problem Solution

Posted by Lenore Koehler on 22nd Jun 2025

Recently I purchased a Vortex Venom red dot sight for my Ruger Mark Iv Lite. However, after mounting it on the pistol, I found it impossible to zero, as it ran out of elevation. In my frustration, I contacted Vortex and they suggested an ADE Advanced Optics shim placed between the mounting plate and the sight as a solution. Voila, my elevation problem was solved and my frustration ended.

    Solved my problem

Posted by Glance on 22nd Jun 2025

Just purchased a Vortex Venom Red Dot Optic for my Springfield XDM. Installed the Optic went to the range to zero in the red dot and ran out of elevation adjustment. Thought I would have to send my Optic back. I googled the issue and was directed to amazon. On Amazon they stated the ade shim would solve my problem. Fortunately I have Amazon Prime got the shin overnight free shipping. Took about 5 minutes to install Drove to the range and zeroed in the optic. Great solution to my issue. Problem solved.

    Solve my Vortex Venom problems!!!

Posted by pnut on 22nd Jun 2025

Bought a venom and tried it on my shotgun… shot 4-5” low with the dial maxed out. Tried it on my 22/45… shot dead on, but also with the dial maxed out. Tried this product and it fixed the problem! With it installed on my 22/45, I was able to back off the dial almost 2 full rotations = 50 clicks = 50 moa!!! Doing online research, I found this a very common problem with the Venom. I even contacted Vortex and the said to use a shim. Vortex should just include this shim with ALL their Venoms!

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally worth it even with modifications!

Posted by TUCKER on 22nd Jun 2025

I purchased this knowing that I’d have to make a few refinements- that being said, I couldn’t be happier with the results! I mounted this on a custom P80 Glock 17 and it lined up everything for my Vortex 3MOA red dot perfectly. It didn’t take much to get all the dots and pegs to line up. Yes, you will have to do some carving, but the small $10 investment in this part made my build all come together. For a custom build, you should expect to make modifications to make it all sing in harmony, so for me, this was probably the easiest mod to get the build all running smoothly. Small cuts and patience people! Yeah, try and get this precision making your own 1 degree slice!!

    Exactly what I needed!

I recently installed a red dot sight on my Springfield Armory XDS 9mm. Even at it's maximum adjustment, the shots were consistently hitting low. This shim was the answer. Easy to install and effective to boot! All for about 12 bucks. I submitted a review earlier with a picture of the shim installed and my review was rejected. Sooo.... while Amazon sells the product apparently a review showing the picture of the product installed is not allowed! ANYWAY, I would recommend this product if you're having similar problems. You'll have to take my word for it, cause the picture was just too offensive.

The right fix for the problem.

Had a Glock 17 G4, using a Vortex Venon. Was still shooting 5 inches low from point of aim after maxing up the UP adjustment. Mounted and recounted a couple of times, no improvement. Purchased the plate, and problem solved. I see reviews about it not fitting, the ad states it may need to be trimmed. Mine was probably a 64th too long on the MOS plate. I used a drill bit that fit snuggly in the existing hole and gently elongated them with just a few twists of the bit by hand, less than 5 minutes of effort. Recovered at least half of my elevation adjustment. Only about 150 rounds in since install, but so far no issues and zero is held.
