It's a tube
The machine and finish quality is really good. Threads are cut very cleanly. I suspect the alloy used is not quite the quality of the name brand expensive versions but for a "low stress" application such as in a pistol or a 22lr conversion I believe it will work just fine. Excellent quality at it's price point!
